Summary

Illumination is an event aimed at bringing awareness to suicide prevention by addressing anxiety, depression, and mental health issues. This event will bring our community together to talk about the connection between physical and mental health, how to build and maintain healthy relationships, and find passion and purpose in life.

Description

Our mission is to foster a safe and connected community for our youth by empowering our families, schools, and local leaders. Anxiety, depression, and suicide have been steadily increasing in our community over the past decade. Unfortunately, the past couple of years have been difficult and the need to address these issues is even more critical. Illumination is a community effort with support from Safe Harbor Crisis Center, North Davis Communities That Care Coalition, North Davis Communities that Care Youth Coalition, NUHOPE Suicide Prevention Task Force, government officials in our community, and other community members and organizations who want to make a difference.
Illumination is an event that addresses teen anxiety and depression by focusing on principles that promote safety, connection, and confidence in our youth. The event will host workshops for youth and their parents. Workshop topics will help make the connection between our physical and mental health, promote building healthy relationships, and finding passion and purpose in life.
This will be the third consecutive year for Illumination. The past two years have been very successful despite the many challenges of COVID-19. Hundreds of families participated in the event each year and it brought the community together as we shed some “light” and awareness to suicide prevention and mental health with an amazing nighttime Illumination fireworks display.
